Dear Neighbors... #23

Dear Neighbors,
I really must apologize. I doodled a mural mockup on your house yesterday that was just lazy and uninspired. It was just one of those days. Your house is lovely. It deserves better. Do over? Here you go. A bright flock to brighten your lives. Much better than yesterday’s I think.

Dear Neighbors,
I left the neighborhood! Okay I didn’t really, I’m just doodling on a photograph from outside the neighborhood. It’s for an actual RFP! Crazy, right?
It’s kinda weird doing client work right now. I actually have some mural and design jobs in progress and am so grateful to still be working. It’s just that the timelines have gone all fuzzy. It’s bizarre. I still have stuff to do but way too much time do it. I’ve always excelled at the 11th hour. I like tight deadlines and too much on my plate. I’m not so great at waiting around for things to move forward. Eh. Whatcha gonna do? Maybe I’ll learn a new and smarter way to work though all of this. But probably not.
Love and light,
Avery O

Dear Neighbors,
Well, we had a lovely and quiet Easter Sunday with tasty food, beautiful weather, long happy hour chats with our neighbors over the fence, and zoom calls with family. Today we are back to this weird new world of work and home school and I find myself back in a dark hole. By 9am I’d already cycled through all the layers of emotions - confusion, frustration, anger, annoyance, sadness. But the sun keeps rising and the day is beautiful. I’m going to stop worrying for a minute and go outside to the sunshine. That should help. Here’s to pretty days and all the feelings!
Love and light,
Avery O
P.S. Am I recycling walls? Yep. Don’t complain.

Dear Neighbors,
The happiest of Easter to you! Well, we won’t be having our annual 10 family brunch with way too many deviled eggs that still somehow all get eaten. We only have one bottle of champagne in the house, but I’ll hold down the fort and drink as many mimosas as I can to keep the spirit alive. We may put on our seersucker. We may stay in our pajamas. The jury’s still out on that one. But the kids are happy and found a bunch of little goodies that the Easter bunny hid. Bacon is cooking on the stovetop. Later we will FaceTime with family and celebrate together but apart. We can still find our little joys in this mad world. I hope your Easter is bright and filled with love and candy. I’m sending painted bunnies and good vibes your way!

Avery O

Dear Neighbors,
I’ve noticed that your van hasn’t moved for about a month now. My car hasn’t moved either. Partially because there’s no where to go, but mostly because it won’t start. It’s fine. I need a new vehicle anyways. My little wagon doesn’t like hauling heavy ladders and scaffolding. It groans a lot. I’m thinking about going the van route. When I do, I’m going to paint it. Maybe it’ll look like this. Maybe it’ll be something else crazy. I’m not really sure yet. But I do know it’s going to be fantastic.
Love and light,
Avery O

Dear Neighbors,
Well, construction projects have certainly slowed down these days. It looks like you’ll have this porto-potty in your front yard for a bit longer than you expected. Here you go. I made it cuter for you! Anything I can do to help!

Dear Neighbors,
Holy hell, it’s HOT out there today. Early April and already in the 90s! I am not okay with this. I really wish I had a swimming pool.
Sooo...I’ve been in your house. Before you bought it I was one of the many neighbors who showed up to the open house to be nosy. Your house is awesome. So is the pool. I want that pool today, and probably every day till October. Since I don’t have a pool to swim in I’ll just draw some water on your house and dream about it. I hope you will mix yourself a nice drink today and dip your toes in that water...for the rest of us!
Love and light,
Avery O

Dear Neighbors,
This is one of my favorite things to paint. Mountain ranges with endless lines. It’s therapeutic. It calms me. Honestly I can’t imagine painting a mural this big with lines this small. It would take forever. But then again, forever seems to be what we have right now, so maybe I’ll give it a try. I do have a few more carport walls to fill...

Dear Neighbors,
We had a really busy April planned. We were supposed to be celebrating a friend’s 40th birthday in New Orleans this weekend. We were supposed to have a big Easter brunch party next weekend. Then @oldsettlers music festival the next weekend. But alas, just a boring Sunday over here, like everyone else. Yes, weekends are boring now, but your house doesn’t have to be. I’ve got plenty of paint in my stockpile. My scaffolding will keep me 12 feet away. Call me.
Love and light,
Avery O

Dear Neighbors,
Well, it’s the weekend! What to do? What to do? We could stay home? Or stay home? Or how about we stay home? Too many options really. I just can’t decide. I also can’t decide what color your mural should be. You choose! I have too many other decisions to make today.
Love and light,

Dear Neighbors,
Where my Roadies at? Gimme a what what! We can make this one really happen, right? When’s the next monthly meeting. I could really use a cheap drink. 2021? Cool. We’ll vote then.
Love and light,
Avery O
P.S. For all you non-Roadies (99% of you) sorry for the nonsense and just enjoy my rainbow octopus. K, bye!
